Folk Ensemble of Dance of the North peoples "Gulun" passed a long way to get the status of the State Theatre, the director Lubov Nikitina told YSIA. "Our ensemble is almost 25 years old. We never thought to grow to the theater — it's very joyful, exciting and responsible. We have put 40 dances for the three months of hard work, and the first work — "Crane-Girl" is based on the Evenki legend,"- she said.
According to Nikitina, the theater plans to stage a performance on "Legend about White Wolves" of the famous Yukagir poet and writer Nikolai Kurilov.
"The issue of the "Gulun" dance ensemble's gaining statues has been raised since the beginning of the 90's, and it finally happened in the Year of the Arctic in Yakutia. The theater will transfer the art, collected by our ancestors, from generation to generation. Traditions and customs of our indigenous peoples will remain forever. Hear we will hear both the voices of the children and instructions of our senior comrades. This is the theater of the future," Head of the Committee of Yakutia State Assembly on the North Indigenous Peoples and Arctic Affairs Elena Golomareva shared her opinion.
Elena Golomareva hoped that the theater would have its own building in a few years.
