According to Ren Yaping, the main purpose of the visit to Yakutia is to establish contacts for future foreign economic cooperation between the two regions. He said he was visiting the republic for the first time, but knew a lot about Yakutia as one of the most promising emerging regions of the Russian Federation with the unique natural and climatic conditions, rich natural resource potential.
Galina Danchikova briefly spoke about the directions of foreign economic cooperation of the Sakha Republic (Yakutia) with China in the framework of the Agreement on trade-economic, scientific-technical and cultural cooperation.
One of the strategic projects of cooperation between Russia and China is a long-term contract for supply of the Russian gas to China through the pipeline "Power of Siberia" between JSC "Gazprom" and the Chinese National Petroleum Corporation. Signing of the contract took place in Shanghai in May 21, 2014 with participation of Russia and China leaders, Vladimir Putin and Xi Jinping. The source of filling "Power of Siberia" pipeline by gas is Chayanda field in Yakutia with balance gas reserves of more than 1 trillion cubic meters.
One of the priority areas of Yakutia foreign economic cooperation with China is to intensify investment cooperation. In December 2014, the Chinese Embassy in Moscow hosted a presentation of the investment potential of the Sakha Republic (Yakutia).
At the end of the meeting, Mr. Ren Yaping thanked the Prime Minister for the warm welcome and expressed hope for further development of foreign economic relations between the Sakha Republic (Yakutia) and the Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region.
