Yakutia head discussed coal mining issues and social responsibility of big business


Working meeting of Yegor Borisov with General Director of "Mechel Mining" Pavel Stark took place in August 17. The main issues were financial and economic activity of JSC "Yakutugol" and LLC "Elgaugol".

 

The head of Yakutia called for strengthening of cooperation with the authorities to create a favorable investment climate and competitive environment, and also drew attention to the need for timely implementation of a number of social obligations.

Speaking about the Elga coal deposit, Pavel said that it was a priority for the company. "Today, it is a serious mining and processing plant, the pilot stage has been passed. We enrich coking concentrate. The value of the Yakut coal is particularly demanded in the domestic market", he said, stressing that production performance of "Elgaugol" is to exceed 4 million tons in 2015.

Yegor Afanasevich drew attention to the situation in Dzhebariki-Khaya village with transition to the open method of production. Previously, the company ensured the adoption of measures to ensure the safety of mine contingent, including through retraining of workers and miners on the job vacancies in the company other branches. A company representative assured that the work in this area will be done taking into account public opinion and in close cooperation with the public authorities of the republic.

The two sides also discussed the issues of coal export to foreign countries and modernization of mining and transport fleet.
